Easy-to-Wear Fall 2014 Make-up Trends
Oct 23, 2014

After more than a decade in the cosmetic industry, I’ve seen make-up trends come and go more times than I can count. And I love it! New seasons, new looks, new challenges. It feeds my creative soul.

I’d like to share two popular make-up trends that have dominated the runways this fall:

  1. smoky metallic eye
  2. cat eye with eyeliner

You’ve probably seen these looks on your favourite TV shows, blockbuster movies and even in the streets. I love the versatility of these two trends—the way they accentuate the eye for both a soft look during the day, and a dramatic, sexy eye at night.

Fall Make-up Trend #1: The Smokey Eye

The traditional smoky eye has been popular for some time now, but it’s always evolving. In fall 2014, we’re seeing the smoky eye all over the runways, this year with a focus on metallics. The smoky eye is super easy wearing for all ages—from 16 to 60 to 80—and the eye shadows are really easy to infuse into your make-up routine.

Quick tip: to avoid creasing, be sure to prep your skin with a foundation first. When you’re done applying your eye make-up, you can go in with a sponge or foundation brush and do a little clean up.

Fall Make-up Trend #2: The Cat Eye with Eyeliner

Another trend we’re seeing this season is a fresh new version of the classic cat eye. This year we’re seeing bold winged-out variations, as well as striking rich colours like greens, blues and purples. Depending on the day, your mood or your destination, the cat eye with eyeliner can be worn as subtly or outrageously as you want.

Metallics are extremely popular this fall season—champagne, gold, silver and purple are great choices no matter what colour your eyes. The best part is that you can use whatever application method you’re most comfortable with to create these looks, be it a pencil, pen or brush.
